#WisdomTales 21May15 : Look Inside – Beyond the Outer Layer…
Once a Monk, travelling for a very long period of time returned to his home-town, dressed in his robe which has almost became rags after so many days of travel. He stops in front of the door of a rich household, religious and well known sympathizer of monks. But when they saw him dressed in rags, they consider him to be a common begger and turn him away with an empty bowl.
So, he goes back to his monastery and returns in his formal robe of office… he is received courteously by the household, promptly invited inside the house, offered a comfortable seat and served a sumptuous meal.
Removing his robe and folding it, he places it on front of the feast and departed with the words,
“This meal is not for me; it is for the robe.”
