#WisdomTales 20May15 : Serving Others or Waiting to be Served…
There was a man who prayed continually for the awareness to succeed in life.
Then one night he dreamed of going into the forest to attain understanding. The next morning as he wakes up, he takes the inspiration from the dream and goes into the woods. He wandered there for several hours looking for some sign that would provide answers.
Finally he stops under a tree near some bushes to take rest. There he hears some grunting sounds and investigating carefully he comes across a fox in the bushes with no legs, lying between two rocks in a cool shaded and relatively safe place.
Curious as to how a legless fox could survive, he waits there to see and observe it. At sunset, a lion come there and lay some meat before the fox. Then some bird come and drop some water from their beaks into the fox’s mouth.
“Ah, I understand,” the man thought. “The secret to success in life is to trust that God will take care of all my needs. I don’t need to provide for myself. All I have to do is totally surrender to my all-sustaining God.”
Few weeks later, weakened, starving and almost dying, the man had another dream. In it he heard a angry and disappointed voice say to him the following…
“Fool. Be like the lion and the birds, not like the fox.”
